We’re continuing to improve the M1 development experience in Visual Studio 8.10 Preview. We’ve invited Aaron LaBeau, an MVP and seasoned Mac developer, to share his experiences. NET and Visual Studio for Mac are working for our customers in the real world. We’ve been using and testing with M1 Macs, but it’s always great to hear how. We’re updating status bar, tabs, the menus and terminology across the IDE to make the experience of using Visual Studio for Mac more consistent with Windows.Hi! We recently posted about how Visual Studio for Mac is supporting Apple Silicon / M1 architecture through the Rosetta translation layer starting in version 8.9, and we’re working towards native support. This also means that Visual Studio for Mac can take better advantage of built-in macOS accessibility features. We’re moving Visual Studio for Mac to native macOS UI, which means it will come with better performance and reliability. NET IDE tailored for the Mac that delivers the productive experience you’ve come to love in Visual Studio.

Our goal with Visual Studio 2022 for Mac is to make a modern.

Improve satisfaction across the full tooling experience (Edit, Build, Debug, Test, Git, Publish, Customization).

Improve the overall performance of the IDE and responsiveness of the UI.

Our top themes for the 2022 calendar year are: menu in the IDE, or voting on the Developer Community site. Please share your thoughts by providing suggestions using the Help > Provide a Suggestion. The roadmap keeps evolving as we work on the product and we revisit our plans at least once every 3-4 months.

We base this work off of what we've learned over the past year of development on the IDE and what we've heard from you in surveys, through our Developer Community, and other conversations. Our Visual Studio for Mac roadmap looks ahead 6-12 months and describes the main topics we want to work on.
